Ive always heard higher quality guitars are easier to play, and I figured if I made a real investment, perhaps that may also add incentive to help drive me, so I took a leap of faith and purchased the Gibson Les Paul that I have always desired to play.Īfter viewing countess YouTube contributions, I found Marty.Īfter viewing his free offers, I signed up for his 3 day free access and for the first time in my life, I have all the confidence in the world that I am capable of building the skills i desire and am, no doubt, going to be playing guitar for the rest of my life.įor me personally, theres something about the way Marty teaches that just clicks and I am literally stuck to the guitar every possible opportunity. I have purchased many guitars over the years, taken a couple lessons here and there, aND never could seem to make any progress so I always gave up.Īt age 47, I figure if I am to ever going to enjoy playing guitar, I better get to it. I wish I wouldn't have, but hey, I may be really good by the time I am 70! Thanks to Marty and Guitarjamz for all the help - well done. At almost 60 years old, I am learning to play a guitar that I had wanted to learn all my life - just kept pushing it off. Very talented young man and a treat to learn from. Even though I don't have the knowledge yet to play some of the more advanced stuff, it is still fun to watch him break songs down. After 5 lessons, I feel more confident at playing and feel like I will eventually be able to move up to some of Marty's more advanced lessons. Outstanding teacher and as others have mentioned, there is enough humor to make it interesting and he slowly walks you through the lessons. I joined Guitarjamz and started the beginner series with Marty. Got a couple of books to learn to play and even though they were good, I wasn't sure if I was doing it right and started to feel overwhelmed. Went and bought a beginner electric guitar. I watched a couple of Marty's video's and thought "Hey, maybe I can this". I had always wanted to learn to play and felt, no way now - I am too old. Marty is actually one of the reasons I decided to make the jump and learn to play guitar at the tender young age of 57 years old. May not have matched the original note for note, but I was able to put the song on and play along with it and it sounded great. I was learning a beginner song from a book that had different chords than what Marty taught, but watched his video and his sounded BETTER and watching him, I was able to learn the strumming pattern from watching Marty and it sounded really good. I mean, for a beginner, I wont will be able to follow David Gilmore note for note and nuance for nuance, but I can follow Marty and actually play so people will know, "Hey, that is Floyd!" I think he does a great job. I am a beginner, but I can follow Marty and it sounds good. But if you follow his lessons, you will playing so that your family and friends will know what song you are playing. He says throughout his series to experiment and do your own thing - add your own riffs, etc. Marty shows you how to play things so that it sounds like the original. A lot of the songs that Marty teaches are from some of the best guitarists in the world. I'm also wondering what their future plans are with the release of other lessons.Īll in all, I still like the product and think that Marty is a good teacher. I will follow-up and let all of you know if I was able to get these lessons sent to me. Even the customer support comments on this page are very generic. At this point I'm not sure if they are going to ship them to me or not. Are they saying yes we will ship these out to you, or that their shipping department needs to approve this? They could have been a little human and said that they will take care of it for me and get them sent out right away. I received a quick reply stating that they have contacted their shipping department with my request. I have contacted their customer service with my request to have the Hendrix lessons sent to me. If you are a premium user, then you get access to the Hendrix lessons. Why don't they also have these as part of the lessons where premium users can access them directly online? They could do it the same as they do the free lessons. On top of having the CD's sent to me, I would really like to these Hendrix lessons put on the main site. What if Marty's site(s) go away? Plus, I don't care for how this was done through a different site. I really just want it sent to me on a DVD for safe keepings. I am also a GCC member and will agree that I don't want or need digital downloads.
